My first trip overseas for steam! Organised by Mike Hudson who accompanied myself and elder brother Don. And for pacific lovers like us it was inevitable it should start at Rheine, where the 01.10, (012) class of three cylinder oil fired pacifics still handled the vast majority of express passenger trains on the line from Munster, through Rheine to Norddeich Mole. And where the three cylinder, oilfired 043 class 2-10-0s handled the bulk of freight traffic to and from Emden Docks. With help from the two cylinder oil fired class 042 2-8-2 locos.
