34067, "Tangmere" : Steam Dreams Tour to Canterbury, 4th June 2008
It had been a few weeks since 34067 "Tangmere" had worked through Kent, so the Steam Dreams trip scheduled for June 4th was hopefuly going to provide some good photographic opportunities. The route was via Maidstone East to Canterbury West, returning via Minster, Dover and then the main line via Tonbridge. next

4 June. Sadly one of the days "sunny intervals" didn't fully coincide with 34067 running fast downhill at Westwell Leacon, near to Charing. next

4 June. Neither did the sun shine at Shalmsford Street as Tangmere hurried along an hour late, after the diesel loco on the empty stock working into Victoria had failed earlier in the day. next 4 June. Into the evening and the return from Canterbury West for 34067. A large black cloud hung over Sandwich as "Tangmere" hurried over a level crossing approaching Sandwich. next 4 June. But thankfully the sun was shining at Capel Le Ferne as the pacific climbed along the coast through Folkestone Warren. Standing high up on the Cliff tops gave an unusual view right into the cab, well at least the glowing fire could be seen! next

4 June. After a quick water stop at Folkestone West 34067 bursts out of the tunnel just East of Sandling station. next

4 June. The green light facing towards Folkestone did indeed mean a train was due the other way. In fact it was standing at Sandling station right next to me disembarking commuters while I took all these photos! next 4 June. A final look of 34067 ready for a spell at 75 mph between Ashford and Tonbridge, on a day that progressively got better for me as it progressed. Well done 34067.
