34067 and the Shepherd Neame Kentish Hop Festival: 6th Sept 2009

September 6th saw the annual Shepherd Neame Hop Festival in Faversham, Kent. With 34067 "Tangmere" doing the honours so far as the train from Victoria to the Festival was concerned. next The Nine Elms Dedication Discusssion Forum

34067 was running just a little early as the pacific hurried through Newington. next

As in previous years a shuttle train ran from Faversham to Sheerness. Diesel hauled on the way out, but with Tangmere in charge on the way back. Seen here crossing the Swale Bridge.

next 34067 exits the Swale Bridge that connects the Isle of Sheppey with the rest of Kent. next

In continuing dull weather 34067 makes easy work of the steep climb up past Snowdown in East Kent. next

Shortly after the water stop at Folkestone, 34067 heads uphill to Sandling station. next

34067, "Tanmgere", exits Sevington Loop near Ashford.

I timed a lot of steam runs Waterloo-Weymouth and Waterloo-Salisbury from 1962 to 1967. A lot of these timing logs are missing, but I do have daily details of which steam locos I travelled behind, and over what distance. If you timed SR steam in those days Please check here to see if you can help
